The biblical theme for the ordination ceremony of priests and deacons is “I hope in you, that innocence and righteousness protect me (Psalm 25:21)”, which was arrived at after meditation and dialogue of the 16 new deacons.
Deacon Hwang Jun-ho explained about the motto that “this verse from the Song of David contains the prayer of a person who responds to God’s call and advances towards Him.”
“As a priest who is an instrument of God, there may be times in life when you wander and falter due to external and internal circumstances, but this verse was chosen in the hope that you can overcome these difficulties with ‘innocence and righteousness’ to present ourselves before God on the last day as a righteous priest who looks like Jesus,” he indicated.
