During the reflection of several passages of the Gospel that were read during this Vigil, Cardinal José Cobo highlighted that only “a look with the eyes of a poor person is capable of recognizing God.”
“The future is not going to be with great means, we have the future of the church in the Gospel, which is the strength of the poor. “Strength appears in weakness,” he noted.
The Archbishop of Madrid invited the consecrated people to let God “be the pilot, and not the co-pilot, of our lives” and specified that “we must be at the bottom of the canyon”, since “we are not only risking our salvation, but also the of the entire Church.”
“We need you to help the Church discover where the seeds are, not the solution to the problems,” he stated.
He also stressed that the “key is in the service,” which is also “encouragement against anger and complaints.” “Serve hoping that God will at some point fulfill his promise to his people.”
“The light of consecrated life invites us to serve despite the upheavals of life and moments of darkness. You have to take risks and tell others the beauty of your life. Do not retreat, announce what God is doing with you, so we will be pilgrims of the future,” the cardinal concluded.
