When asked what message he would give to fans ahead of season four, Jenkins noted, “I would say make sure that today you don’t miss the lessons that the friends and followers of Jesus left out.”
He added: “As we got closer to the crucifixion in the Gospels, Jesus was actually telling them explicitly what was going to happen. He said, ‘I’m going to suffer.’ He said, ‘I’m going to die.’ And they said, ‘Okay, I hear you, but hey, who’s number one in our group? And can I be at your right and left in the kingdom in the future? And that broke his heart.”
Jenkins explained that it can be easy for us to look back in retrospect and “say, ‘Man, we can’t believe they missed this.’ It was so obvious.’”
“I pray that today we do not miss what they missed. May we be, especially because we have this hindsight, able to say that our focus must be on the Gospel,” she concluded.
