Archbishop asks that change, certainty and governance in Bolivia be guaranteed

The Archbishop of Sucre (Bolivia), Mons. Ricardo Centellas, reflected this Sunday on the situation of the country for the second electoral round, which will be held on October 19.

In the homily Of the Mass held this Sunday in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sucre, concluding the week of prayer for the Brotherhood between the Bolivian Church and the sister churches of Tréveria and Hildesheim (Germany), the archbishop highlighted the urgency of change, certainty and guarantees of governance in Bolivia.

When referring to the passage of the Gospel where the disciples ask Jesus to increase his faith, Mons. Centellas explained that forgiveness is essential to grow as children of God and disciples of Jesus.

The Christian life, the prelate pointed out, demands the constant practice of forgiveness, responsibility, and the action with the strength and blessing of God. “We have to learn all our existence to forgive, enter the dynamics of forgiveness, there is no other,” he said.

Within that framework, he focused his reflection on responsibility, calling to make use of this essential value without personal conditions or interests, both for everyday life and, mainly, for the exercise of public authority.

“It is very good to meditate on responsibility for all, but especially for public people. We will soon have the final ballot, October 19. And then, as of November 9, we will have new authorities in Bolivia,” he said.

“Let’s pray that our authorities – the majority are already chosen, the same will be appointed,” so that these new authorities are responsible, so that their responsibility is accompanied by free, “he encouraged.

“If they are responsible, they will never look for personal benefits. They will never look and assemble things so that they go ahead and not the country. We need people who work for Bolivia,” he said.

“Only in this way can we overcome the deep crises we are living,” said the archbishop.

Finally, Mons. Centellas recalled that “more than 60% of the country voted so that there is change, so that there is certainty, so that there is governance.”

“I hope that the chosen people, the chosen people realize what Bolivia needs and can work on these structural needs that we need,” he concluded, yearning that responsibility reigns in each life, as a path to follow the example of Jesus and build a better future for Bolivia.
