The Vatican announced this Tuesday that Pope Leo XIV will make his first apostolic trip to Türkiye and Lebanon at the end of November and beginning of December 2025.
According to the statement from the Holy See, the Holy Father will travel to Turkey from November 27 to 30, where he will make a pilgrimage to İznik (ancient Nicea) on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicea (year 325). This First Ecumenical Council is one of the fundamental milestones in the history of Christianity, since it defined the consubstantiality of the Son with the Father and gave rise to the Creed that Christians still recite today throughout the world.
