Mons. Crociata highlighted the opportunity to have been able to hear in recent days “the testimony of our Ukrainian permanent observers”, and said that the prelates of the European Union continue “with deep concern and sadness the situation in the Gaza Strip.”
“The suffering of the Palestinian people breaks our hearts. The images of civil victims, hungry children, families forced to abandon their homes and the destruction of cities affect us deeply and shake our sense of humanity,” says Mons. Crociata.
The president of the ERECE also expressed that the European prelates are added “to the numerous calls of Pope Leo XIV and we urge the international community, starting with the European Union, to compromise by all possible means to a rapid resolution” of the conflict in the Middle East.
In addition, he asked that the route to the end of the war include “the liberation of all hostages, full access to the necessary humanitarian aid and the achievement of a fair and lasting peace.”
“With our churches we become a living and active part of the prayer for peace, expressing our constant closeness and solidarity with the Church and with all the people who suffer, especially in Gaza and the Holy Land, in Ukraine and in Sudan,” he concludes.
