Papa Leo XIV meets with the heir prince of Baréin and with the president of Guinea Bissau

Pope Leo XIV received in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican to the heir prince and prime minister of the kingdom of Baréin, Salman Bin Hamad al Khalifa; and to the president of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Pacal.

As usual, both leaders met with the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and with the section official for relations with the states and international organizations of the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Mons. Mis. Mirosław Stanisław Wachowski.

As reported by the press office of the Holy See, during the conversations of Bin Hamad Al Khalifa in the State Secretariat, satisfaction was expressed by good bilateral relations and the willingness to reinforce them further was expressed. The meetings addressed Baréin’s policy to promote the “interreligious dialogue” and the “peaceful coexistence between the different religions” of the kingdom, according to the statement.

In addition, other issues of common interest were discussed, among which the “urgent need to end war in the Middle East” and the shared commitment to peace between nations.

On the other hand, the Vatican reported that during the meeting held by the head of state of Guinea Bissau in the Secretary of State, “the contribution made by the Church to the common good” emerged in the African country. especially in educational and health fields.

The conversations also included an exchange of opinions on the “political, social and economic situation of the country” and on international news, reaffirming the interest of both parties to “strengthen cooperation and promote peace and sustainable development,” according to the statement.
