The purpose of the meeting, which took place on September 5 in the Papa Francisco Salon del Archbishopric of Santiago, was to open a space for reflection on the scope of AI in the mission of the Church.

There, the engineer Vergara explained the difference between the generative and the agriculture, highlighting that the first allows to produce texts, images or audios; while the second takes one more step when executing specific functions.

He also dedicated a time to show how Chatgpt can collaborate in the writing of homilies, and presented tools such as Perplexity.com for academic searches, the Chatgpt Research Agent for deep research and Google Notebooklm, which facilitates interacting with extensive documents, creating summaries and concept maps.

Among the questions of the attendees, the issue of copyright, academic training and psychological risks linked to excessive use of this type of technologies arose.

In this regard, the engineer advised to use them in specific cases, experimentally and learning in a practical way. Within that framework, he mentioned that YouTube and AI itself can be useful.

At the end of the conference, the CardENNAL He thanked those present and anticipated: “The more this advances, the more important our mission of evangelizing, humanizing the world and generating fraternity will be.”
