The Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, described as “nonsense” the last Israeli attack against the Nasser hospital located in the south of the Gaza Strip, in which 20 people died.
The purple was consulted by journalists in Naples about the last actions of the Israel Army in his attempt to take control of the city of Gaza, where he was on the occasion of the 75th National Liturgical Week.

“We are still amazed at what is happening in Gaza, and despite the condemnation of the entire world”, because “there is a choir by all in the conviction of what is happening,” said Cardinal Parolin, as reported Vatican News.
“It is meaningless,” added the Secretary of State, who shared his impression that “there are no solutions of solution” and that the hope of finding a way for the end of the conflict is presented as “more and more complicated.”
In addition, he denounced that, from the humanitarian point of view, the situation is “increasingly precarious, with all the consequences we are constantly seeing.”
On the war in Ukraine, Cardinal Parolin argued that “a lot of politics” is needed to analyze and implement the multitude of solutions at theoretical level, stressing that, although “there are many paths that can be taken to reach peace”, “We must want to put them into practice.”
This determination is not only contemplated from a practical point of view, but, he added, “obviously there are also provisions of the spirit.”
Need for hope for the world
“There is a need for hope for the entire world,” said the Cardinal, who recalled that the jubilee convened by Pope Francis, “would like to be a moment of recovery of hope.”
“A hope against all hope,” added the purple, who outlined that at this time there are “many elements that help us wait, especially internationally.”
This pessimistic look would be confirmed, in the opinion of Cardinal Parolin for the “difficulty of starting peace paths in conflict situations.” In spite of everything, he said that “it is necessary not to resign” and “continue working for peace and reconciliation.”
