Enough! The town has suffered so much, says Nun that was 15 years in Gaza, after attack on Catholic Church

“I suffer a lot for them. I tell all the world’s leaders: Enough! Pronounce a word of justice and peace! Enough! The people have suffered so much,” says an Egyptian Catholic nun who lived 15 years in Gaza after the Israeli attack against the Church of the Holy Family.

“I know what war is,” says Sister Nabila Saleh, of the Rosary sisters, in statements to the Vatican media, after the Church of the Holy Family of Gaza was reached on the morning of July 17 by an air attack in the middle of a new wave of bombing. One of the injured has been the Argentine pastor Gabriel Romanelli.

In Gaza, reports Vatican Newsthis nun was director of the largest private school in the strip, and then shared with all the displaced people who had found refuge in the Latin parish of the Sagrada Familia.

The religious had the opportunity to speak with some faithful of the Sagrada Familia and highlights that they “said they are very afraid that the bombings will continue, and they say ‘enough! We no longer have strength’.”

The sister remembers those killed in the attack and comments, for example, that Fouumia Issa Latif Ayyad “was very good. Even when he was sick, he always talked about her life. She was director of the UNRWA school God”.

When talking about the goalkeeper who died in the bombing, Saad Issa Kostandi Salameh, the religious emphasizes that “she was very good and was willing to help everyone in the church, always willing to serve.”

On the third fatal victim, Sister Nabila says that “she suffered. She didn’t know her so well. She went to us when her church, the orthodox, was bombarded; she suffered a lot.”

Before this and other attacks, the religious concluded, “we cannot shut up; there is no justice.”
