The Archbishop of Cali, Mons. Luis Fernando Rodríguez, asked to end “all escalation of violence” in Colombia, after on Tuesday, June 10, 24 terrorist attacks were recorded in the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca.
“It has been a sad day because the news tells us about many attacks, more than 12, where there have been victims who have died, many people injured and also businesses and local that have been destroyed,” said the prelate in a video published by the Episcopal Conference of Colombia (CEC).

The archbishop made an energetic call to the cessation of violence and urged the population to host the message of the risen peace: “As a pastor and archbishop I ask them to cease once and for all the violent acts, that we welcome the message of the resurrected: ‘La Paz I leave you, my peace I give them,” he said.
He also urged steps to a “brave ethic” that allows to find real paths to overcome conflicts: “Cali and the Cauca Valley cannot live again what happened more than 30 years ago. The pain of the past cannot be repeated today,” he warned.
Mons. Rodríguez also requested that the escalation of violence cease and encouraged all citizens to become instruments of peace and reconciliation: “That the risen man accompany us and make peace instruments of us,” he concluded.
The attacks of June 10, 2025 in Colombia
Seven deceased people would be the balance of 24 terrorist attacks in the contiguous departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca in Colombia, according to the National Police.

The Archbishop of Cali also published a pastoral letter entitled “Towards unarmed and disarming peace“, In which she regrets that, according to the Institute of Legal Medicine” there are more than 2,437 violent deaths of Colombian citizens “until January 2025.
“The drama of violence and death has been present for years in our country, only that the attack of a public person, pre -candidate for the presidency, makes the problem more visible and pressing, since it also brings to our memory our history of pain,” adds the prelate, referring to the murder attempt of Uribe Turbay.
