Legionaries of Christ inaugurate in Jerusalem the room of Pentecost

This Saturday was inaugurated at the Notre Dame de Jerusalem the Pentecost room, a room in which a work of art that took 7 years to be carried out and that represents the coming of the Holy Spirit over the apostles and the Blessed Virgin is displayed.

It’s about an initiative promoted by the legionaries of Christ and the consecrated regnum Christi in the holy city. The paintings were made by Chilean artist Daniel Cariola, known for being the author of A famous painting about Jesus and the hemorrhismdeployed in the Sanctuary of Magdala, also administered by the legionaries of Christ.

During the inauguration, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, who gave his blessing on the room and presided over the prayer vigil and subsequent Mass of Vigil of Pentecost, was present.

The paintings, made on canvas on the four walls and on the roof of the room, represent the 120 people who, according to the facts of the apostles, were gathered in the Cenacle of Jerusalem that day of Pentecost.

“This is a room for pilgrims that welcomes the Notre Dame de Jerusalem, for prayer and for catechesis, especially about the Holy Spirit. It is a place where pilgrims can come to know more their faith, to meditate on this mystery of the Holy Spirit and from where they can then be sent in mission to their places of origin,” Father Fernando Morales LC, who exercises his Ministry of Pastoral.

“Every year the solemnity of Pentecost is the opportunity that the whole church has to implore with greater fervor and awareness the gift of the Holy Spirit and its grace. Knowing that it is God who moves us from within, inspires us and moves us,” he added.

For Father Morales, this great celebration of the Church is a special moment for Christians to strengthen their testimony in the midst of the conflict and hate that affects the region. “Being able to be a testimony of love, forgiveness and reconciliation, moved by the Holy Spirit. That is what we ask God,” he said.

The priest stressed that currently the Cenacle, the room where Jesus instituted the Eucharist and where the apostles later received the Holy Spirit, is run by the Israeli State, which limits to a large extent that Catholics can use the place freely.

“That makes no place suitable for prayer and for the meditation of this mystery of Pentecost. Therefore, this room also has the objective of giving adequate space so that this mystery can be transmitted, contemplated and explained to all the pilgrims who come to Holy Land,” concluded Fr. Morales.
