The Vatican asks for a negotiated solution for all wars in the world after the meeting between Leo XIV and JD Vance

Pope Leo XIV received this morning at the Vice President of the United States of America, James David Vance, after which the Vatican asked for a “negotiated solution” for all wars in the world.

According to the statement released by the Vatican press office after the meeting, various current international situations were addressed, especially those related to armed conflicts and geopolitical tensions.

The information disseminated by the Holy See also explained that in the meeting “an exchange of opinions on some international current issues have been exchanged, expressing the desire that in the conflict zones the humanitarian law and international law are respected and a negotiated solution between the parties involved is reached.”

After the meeting with Pope Leo XIV, in which Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States also participated, Vance met with the secretary for relations with international states and organizations, Mons. Paul Richard Gallagher.

During the conversations held in the Secretary of State, the strength of diplomatic relations between the two countries was highlighted. In this sense, the Vatican statement stressed that “satisfaction was renewed by good bilateral relations and emphasized the collaboration between the Church and the State, as well as in some issues of special relevance to ecclesial life and religious freedom.”

This hearing with Vice President Vance is registered within the first international contacts of Leo XIV after his choice. This Sunday, after celebrating the Pontificate’s start mass, the Pontiff was able to greet Vance his wife, and today he has received it in the Apostolic Palace.

That day he also met privately with the president of Peru, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, and with the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, who stressed later that “the authority and voice of the Holy See can play an important role to put an end to this war.”

Through a message published In the social network X, the Ukrainian president expressed his gratitude to the Pontiff for the meeting: “After the opening mass, we had an encounter with Pope Leo XIV @pontifex. We thank his holiness for the audience.”

Next, Zelenski stressed the role of moral lighthouse in the world of the new Pontiff as an international reference figure in the search for peace. “For millions of people around the world, the Pontiff is a symbol of hope for peace. The authority and voice of the Holy See can play an important role to end this war,” he said.

During the meeting, as explained by the president of Ukraine himself, he wanted to transfer the disposition of his country to explore new routes of dialogue that allow us Zelenski pointed out in his publication.
