Pope Leo XIV went to the papal basilica of Santa María la Mayor in Rome, to pray before the tomb of his predecessor, Pope Francis, who is buried there.
According to Vatican News, the Holy Father arrived at the Marian Basilica after visiting the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Good Council, his first surprise visit.

As recalled, Pope Francis was buried in Santa María la Mayor for his wish, expressed in his will, released after his death on April 21.
