From July 26 to August 11, 2024, the Olympic Games will take place in Paris (France). The Paralympic Games, for their part, will also be held in the French capital, but from August 28 to September 8.
The Olympic “truce” or “peace” is a concept that dates back to ancient Greece, when, on the occasion of the original Olympic Games, cities were encouraged to have a period of peace. The concept resurfaced in the early 1990s, and both Olympic authorities and the United Nations now encourage participating countries to observe a time of peace during sporting competitions.
