EWTN: Choose your cardinal per photo
The Ewtn Catholic chain, a company to which ACI Press belongs, has published on its social networks A gallery with images of the 135 voters cardinals, with the aim of making them known. Although only they have the right to vote to choose the new Pope, Ewtn recalls that “the Church – which we are all Catholics – also participates in the conclave through prayer.”
Ewtn points out that it is the ideal time to “unite and ask the Holy Spirit for our shepherds and for the new Pope. He begins to pray for all of them; that is our way of participating in the conclave.”
Finally, they invite the faithful to choose three cardinals and “dedicate your prayers especially for them, with name and surname.”
Spiritual adoption of a cardinal
Monastery Wi-Fia virtual prayer community, has launched the platform “Adopt a cardinal”, An initiative that invites the faithful to receive, randomly, the name of a cardinal voter through their website.
The objective is to compromise Catholics to pray “daily to the Holy Spirit, from today until the day of the election of the new Pope, for each of the cardinals, awaiting the new successor of Peter.”
So far, about 10,000 people have already joined this proposal.
The platform suggests the following sentence to accompany during these days the cardinal who has been assigned to you:
Come, oh creative spirit, visit our minds, full of your grace the hearts you have created.
Oh sweet comfort, Don of the very high father, living water, fire, love, holy oil of the soul.
Finger of God, promised by El Salvador, radiates your seven gifts, raises the word in us.
I know light for understanding, calling the heart; Heals our wounds with the balm of your love.
Defend us of the enemy, give us the gift of peace, that your invincible guide preserves us from evil.
Light of eternal wisdom, revive us the great mystery of God the Father and the United Son in a single love. Amen.
Pray.
Oh Father, what guides and custodians to your church, grant the cardinal parents the spirit of intelligence, of truth, of peace, so that they strive to know your will and serve you with total delivery. For Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Hakuna: “Your date, your fire”
The Catholic Movement Hakuna has launched a prayer campaign within the framework of the next conclave, inviting the faithful to “accompany spiritually” to each cardinal voter.
The initiative is entitled “Your date, your fire”, since the cardinal for whom it will be prayed is assigned depending on the birthday of each participant.
As described by website of the movement, this initiative seeks to unite Catholics in “this important moment for the Church. That each can accompany with their prayer a cardinal voter.”
The objective, he says, is that “the Holy Spirit illuminates them, that the purity of the heart and wisdom assist them when voting who is to be the new shepherd of the Church.”
Hakuna recalled that “it does not matter to pray for them or not to pray”, underlining the importance of this form of spiritual accompaniment.
This is the prayer that Hakuna suggests to accompany the assigned cardinal:
Good father, thank you.
Thanks for Pope Francis,
for his cheerful and worn out without reservations,
for your heart restless for the discarded
and his example of mercy.
Now open it.
God son, who thought of Pedro
When you imagined your church,
Give us a new pope to speak to you without fear,
to show those facets of your face
of which the world is thirsty and still does not know.
Holy Spirit,
Water us on this wait.
Prepare our church now
For the coming Pope,
Make us good land for the new,
that we welcome him with joy,
With humility and trust without calculations.
You will know how to guide us.
I ask you for light for cardinal ___, that you grant you
Your clarity and inner freedom
To choose according to your will.
To you, God alive,
We tell you yes.
