In a Video recorded in January And published after his death, Pope Francis left a last message addressed to young people, in which he highlighted the courage of knowing how to listen to others, especially grandparents.

The video, registered on January 8 at the Santa Marta residence, was disseminated by the Italian magazine Today A day after the funeral mass of the Pontiff, who died in the Vatican on April 21, Easter Monday.

In the message, Francisco addressed the young people who are part of the “Listening workshops”From Italian Luca Drusian. According to Vatican Mediathese workshops invite young people to dialogue on different topics, experiencing both the richness of being heard and listening to others.

“Dear boys and girls, one of the most important things in life is to listen, learn to listen,” said the Pope in the video.

Francisco explained the importance of letting the other person finish speaking before answering: “When someone speaks to you, wait for them to end up really understanding, and then, if you want, answer. But the important thing is to listen.”

In addition, he warned that many times people interrupt in the midst of a conversation, which does not contribute to peace: “Look well in people: they do not listen. In the middle of an explanation they are already responding, and that does not help peace. Listen to, listen a lot,” he urged.

He also encouraged young people to listen to their grandparents, stating that they “teach us so many things.”

The message was known while about 200,000 faithful, many of them teenagers, participated on April 27 in a Mass in the Plaza de San Pedro, within the framework of the Jubilee of Adolescents that was held in Rome between April 25 and 27.
