Ninth to the divine mercy 2025

On April 27, Second Easter Sunday, the Catholic Church celebrates on Sunday of Divine Mercy.

During the jubilee of the year 2000, Pope San Juan Pablo II established for the entire Church that on the Sunday following the Sunday of Resurrection – last day of the Easter eighth – is called Domingo of Divine Mercy.

The Holy Father wanted that Sunday to be dedicated in a special way to the faithful considering the gift of divine mercy, for which we receive forgiveness again and again, by virtue of the death and resurrection of Christ. That already far second Easter Sunday of the year 2000 was chosen for the canonization of Santa Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), compatriot of the Polish Pope and -as called Benedict XVI- ‘Messenger of Jesus merciful’.

“Thank the Lord because it is good, because his mercy is eternal” (Ps 118, 1)

In the Cenacle, Christ risen announces that divine mercy is Don for all and entrusts the apostles to administer it: forgiveness and reconciliation for those who are regretted:

“Peace to you. As the Father has sent me, I also send you. (…) Receive the Holy Spirit; whom you forgive their sins are forgiven; who you retain them are retained” (Jn 20, 21-23).

The message: God is rich in mercy

Pope San Juan Paul II in 2000 remembered the importance of divine mercy and at the same time the warning that Jesus made to Saint Faustina: “Humanity will not find peace until he addresses with confidence to divine mercy” (Diary132). Divine mercy! This is the Pascual Don that the Church receives of the risen Christ and that offers humanity … that aims to reach people’s hearts the message that God is merciful ”(Saint John Paul II).

Then we put at your disposal some fragments of the Santa Faustina Kowalska personal newspaper, published with the title: Diary. Divine mercy in my soul.

Jesus, among many other revelations, communicated to Santa Faustina Kowalska, Apostle of Divine Mercy the following:

  • “And the bigger the sinner, the greatest is the right that has my mercy” (Diary723).

  • “I want the party of mercy to be a shelter and amparo for all souls and, especially, for poor sinners” (Diary699).

  • “Souls die despite my bitter passion. I offer them the last salvation table, that is, the feast of my mercy. If they do not worship my mercy they will die forever” (Diario, 965).

A few days after this great party, let’s offer the next novena in his honor:
