The artist is no stranger to the immense popular mercy that, for more than 100 years, revolves around the figure of the Blessed thanks to his exemplary life, goodness and generosity with the most needy. As in most Venezuela’s households, especially those most humble, Mogollón has extreme naturalness as his younger brother was saved thanks to the intercession of José Gregorio.

“When my brother was the age of 9,” I am face -to -face witness to this miracle, my brother was evicted by doctors twice, “I am very small, I remember continuous visits to Isnotu with my mother to ask for her health,” says the artist in an interview with Aci Prensa.

The little one suffered from renal insufficiency that caused great conditions. The family, on the advice of doctors, prepared for the worst. Even a priest visited his home to administer the holy oils to the convalescent child.

“We realized (that he had healed) because he no longer stated. He never suffered ever of that. Obviously it was a miracle “Mogollón sentence, 47, natural and natural in the city of Barquisimeto.

His interest in José Gregorio was always latent throughout his life, but he took special relevance with the pandemic, when “the restlessness” of the situation led him to specially ask God and Blessed to protect his family, Venezuela and all the people of the world.

Thus, together with a group of entrepreneurs, Mogollón had the initiative to create a work by José Gregorio to donate it to the Sanctuary of Isnotu, the hometown of Blessed in the Trujillo state, also in the Venezuelan Andes. At the time of being exhibited in the place, the Barquisimetan artist received the news that his work had been chosen by the Holy See, in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Caracas, as the official portrait of José Gregorio for the Solemn Beatification Mass.

“I would like to convey to people, my family and my children, it is a message of hope, of faith and struggle. The moments we are living are so difficult. The works speak for themselves. You look at José Gregorio’s face and look good, noble. It is something incredible, you have to stand in front of the works, observe them, and they speak for themselves,” Mogollón said.

“I believe that one of the most important things that people can learn, and that it would be a good message for everyone, is the goodness and the willingness to help the most needy that José Gregorio had. That is the main message that I would like to convey. Even if it is little or much, it is important to give a moment of happiness to those who need it,” added the artist.

The Virgin of Coromoto and José Gregorio Hernández arrive in Rome

Mogollón shared with ACI Press that it has been selected by the Venezuelan embassy before the Holy See to carry out two large works: a mosaic with the image of Our Lady of Coromoto in the Vatican gardens and another with that of Blessed José Gregorio Hernández in the vicinity of the Latin American Pío College of Rome.

The artist considers this as “a blessing of God and José Gregorio that have allowed him to achieve incredible things to highlight the name of Venezuela.”
