Pope Francis appoints new consultants to the General Secretariat of the Synod

Pope Francis has made new appointments to the General Secretariat of the Synod, whose members are responsible for the preparation and conduct of the Synod assemblies.

The General Secretariat of the Synod is made up of the Ordinary Council and a group of Consultants. Specifically, the Holy Father appointed five new consultants this January 10.

As reported by the Holy See Press Office, the new consultants are: Mons. Timothy John Costelloe, Metropolitan Archbishop of Perth (Australia); Mons. Piero Coda, Secretary General of the International Theological Commission; Gaby Alfred Hachem, Professor of Theology at l’Holy Spirit University of Kaslik; Giuseppe Bonfrate, Ordinary Professor of the Pontifical Gregorian University; and Father Paul Béré, Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute.
