Argentina: a rosary will pray for Pope Francis on the streets that saw him grow

In a new anniversary of the inauguration of Pope Francis and Solemnity of San José, the faithful of Buenos Aires, the hometown of the Holy Father, join in procession through the streets of the neighborhood that saw him born.

It is a joint initiative in which different ecclesial groups participate. “We walk and pray,” you can read in the invitation, which consists of a rosary through the streets of the Flores neighborhood.

The walk begins on Varela 268, the house where Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born, and will pass through the Pedro Antonio Cerviño school, where he conducted his primary studies. The Rosary will continue along Bilbao Street until Membrillar 531/3, the last house where the Pope grew.

The call has united, among others, to the prayer groups of Padre Pío; the Amarte Argentina Solidarity Movement, from Villa La Cárcova; The Radial Program Rezá X Mi, where Cardinal Luis Dri participates, confessor of the Pope; The missionaries of Christianity and the Ecumenical Movement for Peace.

The walk will culminate at 19.30 in the San José de Flores Basilica, which celebrates its festivities with a Mass chaired by the archbishop of Buenos Aires, Mons. Jorge Ignacio García Cuerva. There, in 1953, the young Bergoglio felt his call to the priesthood.
