Vatican: There is no medical bulletin because the clinical conditions of Pope Francis are still stable

The Holy See press office confirmed Friday that the clinical conditions of Pope Francis, 88 years old and hospitalized for a month with bilateral pneumonia, are still stable.

The medical team that attends him at the Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital in Rome did not spread a new informative newsletter since there are no news regarding the last update on Wednesday afternoon.

From the Vatican they considered this decision as “a new positive sign” that confirms the favorable evolution of the Holy Father.

In the last medical part it was confirmed that the results of the thoracic radiography to which the pontiff underwent the previous day had revealed that the infection that affects the two lungs was referring.

Since last March 3, when he suffered two bronchosppe, that is, two moments in a row in which he suffered a sudden narrowing of the muscles surrounding the bronchi in the lungs with a sensation of suffocation, the Holy Father has not suffered again this type of episodes.

In addition, the latest blood tests also found the improvement of their clinical conditions, so doctors proceeded to withdraw the reserved prognosis from the general diagnostic framework.

In any case, Pope Francis is not yet able to breathe autonomously. At night he sleeps with non -invasive mechanical ventilation, that is, with a mask, while for the day he receives oxygen from high flows through nasal cannulas.

The pontiff has continued with prescribed antibiotic therapy to combat bilateral pneumonia, as well as with both motor and respiratory physiotherapy exercises.
