In the text sent to the General Director of the FAO, Qué Dongyu, the Nicaragua regime rejected the report on the “Status of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024“, which warns that 19.6% of the population of Nicaragua, that is, 1.4 million people suffer from hunger; and that 15% of children under 5 years have delays in their growth due to the lack of good food. This percentage corresponds to about 100,000 minors.
The Foreign Minister indicated that the dictatorship rejects the report “for lacking objectivity, methodological rigor, for containing false information, with an interference, aggressive tendency and that it has been disseminated in a evilly intentional way for political purposes”, although it did not specify what the supposed figures would be true or correct.
FAO’s report shows data that “dictators could not alter”
Martha Patricia Molina, author of the report Nicaragua: a persecuted churchwhich accounts for in its latest edition of almost 1,000 attacks by the dictatorship of Ortega and Murillo against the Catholic Church, criticized the decision of the regime to expel FAO, which worked in Nicaragua for almost 40 years With different help programs.

“FAO brought Nicaragua to PMA, which is the World Food Program that this agency works twinned with FAO and takes emergency food to countries in famine. The PMA has brought large amounts of food to Nicaragua for peasant sectors where the state does not arrive, ”said Molina.
