Bishop Daniel Thomas, who leads the Committee on Pro-Life Activities of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), will also be a keynote speaker.

“We are thrilled to welcome these inspiring pro-life leaders to this year’s 52nd March for Life,” said Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life Education and Advocacy Fund, in a Jan. 9 statement.

“For the past 52 years, the March for Life has been a powerful testament to the tragedy of abortion, while advocating for greater protections for women and the unborn,” she said.

“This year’s theme — ‘Life: This is why we march’ — reminds us of the fundamental truth that all life has inherent human dignity from its beginning,” he added.

The event will begin with a rally at noon, followed by the march at 1:00 pm (local time).

DeSantis, who is Catholic, signed legislation in April 2023 that prohibits abortion in Florida from the moment the unborn baby’s heartbeat is detected, which occurs at approximately six weeks of gestation. In 2024, the state held a referendum to establish the right to abortion in the state Constitution, but the measure did not meet the 60% threshold needed for approval. DeSantis campaigned vigorously against this proposal.

Smith, also Catholic, is co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus and has an A+ rating from the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America organization for his votes in defense of the unborn.

Rose, another prominent Catholic, founded the pro-life organization Live Action in 2003 when she was just 15 years old.

Other speakers will include Bethany Hamilton, professional surfer, mother and pro-life advocate; Josiah Presley, abortion survivor; and Dr. Catherine Wheeler, a former abortionist who is now a pro-life obstetrician.

Also present will be Beverly Jacobson, executive director of Mama Bear Care; the Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; Jennie Bradley Lichter, president-elect of the March for Life; and Hannah Lape, student and president of Wheaton College Voice for Life.

“I am excited to join the March for Life at this crucial time, and I couldn’t be more excited to share the stage this year with dedicated elected officials, pro-life leaders and other great Americans who will share their testimonies about why they are fighting for life.” Lichter said in a statement.

“There is nothing like the March for Life, and this year’s program is a reminder of the enduring strength of our movement,” he added.

Christian rock band Unspoken will perform before the rally. Julie Stone, owner of Sopranojam Music Studio in Mountville, Pennsylvania, will perform the national anthem.
