Saint of the day January 4: San Manuel González García. Catholic Saints

Manuel was born in Seville (Spain), on February 25, 1877. He is recognized as an authentic pastor, concerned with the spiritual strengthening of the faithful. His restless and innovative spirit led him to found the Eucharistic Reparative Union, a religious movement for lay people, made up of the “Marias of the Tabernacles” and the “Disciples of Saint John”, whose members dedicate themselves to the veneration of the Blessed Sacrament with the in order to repair the sins of humanity with prayer.

For the priests he created the association of the Diocesan Eucharistic Missionaries and for the nuns the Eucharistic Missionaries of Nazareth. Saint Manuel González García has been called “Bishop of the Abandoned Tabernacle” or the “Apostle of the Abandoned Tabernacles”, not by chance. Unfortunately, in modern times many Catholics have lost awareness of the importance of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, as well as frequent communion or the prayer of adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

Pastors like Saint Manuel González García contribute by their example and inspire the faithful to recover love and devotion to the Eucharist, which is nothing but the return to the fundamental core of our Catholic faith and identity: God is truly present in the midst of their town to gather it and feed it.
