More than 80 places of worship of the different religious denominations present in Buenos Aires (Argentina) will open their doors this Saturday, December 14, during the 8th “Night of the Temples”, which will take place between 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. .
With religious, cultural, artistic and gastronomic activities, the different faiths will welcome the thousands of people who visit the temples every year, under the coordination of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires.

40 Catholic churches are part of the tour, including parishes, chapels, sanctuaries and basilicas.
Highlights include the Basilica of San José de Flores, where Pope Francis discovered his priestly vocation; the Holy House of Spiritual Exercises San Ignacio de Loyola, founded by Santa Mama Antula; the Jesús Sacramentado Sanctuary, in the Almagro neighborhood; Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish – Holy Spirit Basilica; and the San Ignacio de Loyola Parish, the first Catholic temple in the City of Buenos Aires.
You can also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires, seat of the Archbishop; the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal; the Basilica Santa Rosa de Lima, in the Balvanera neighborhood; and the Convent and Basilica of San Francisco de Asís, among others.
In this regard, the Head of the Buenos Aires Government, Jorge Macri, assured that tonight “represents the coexistence and religious diversity that characterize our City”, in peaceful coexistence and “permanent dialogue.”
“We are a cosmopolitan city, a land of hope and peace that, from its beginnings, welcomed waves of immigrants who contributed, each with their own values, to building and strengthening citizen ties based on respect and serene acceptance of differences.” , added the president.
Within this framework, talks, workshops, concerts, exhibitions and tastings of typical dishes will be offered.
Fulvio Pompeo, Secretary General and International Relations of the City, considered that, beyond the architectural value, the temples “are testimonies of a Buenos Aires built on respect and dialogue, a city that has been shaped thanks to its multiple origins. and confessions.”
Pilar Bosca, General Director of Cults of the City, encouraged the Buenos Aires community to participate: “It is a unique opportunity to get to know the different communities of faith that coexist in the City, exploring its cultural and architectural wealth, while sharing traditions and they enjoy their proposals,” he said.
Those who wish to participate can do so for free, without prior registration. Those who are registered in the BA Ecobici app (the city’s rental bicycles) will be able to access free passes.
For greater organization of the day, the participating temples are distributed into zones. Thus, zone 1 includes the neighborhoods of Belgrano, Villa Urquiza, Villa Ortúzar, Chacarita, Coghlan; zone 2, Palermo, Recoleta, Villa Crespo; zone 3, Retiro, San Nicolás, Monserrat; zone 4, Constitución, San Telmo, La Boca, Barracas, Puerto Madero; zone 5 San Cristóbal, Balvanera, Boedo, Almagro; zone 6, Caballito, Parque Chacabuco, Flores, Vélez Sársfield, Parque Avellaneda, Mataderos; and zone 7, Villa Devoto, Villa Santa Rita, Villa del Parque, Villa General Miter.
