2. Good Friday changed his life

In 2000, while in Spain, Sister Clare participated in the exaltation of the cross on Good Friday, kissing the feet of Jesus. She recalled of that occasion: “I don’t know how to explain exactly what happened. I did not see the choirs of angels or a white dove come down from the ceiling and descend on me, but I was certain that the Lord was on the Cross, for me.”

She continued: “And along with that conviction, I felt great pain, similar to what I had experienced when I was little and prayed the Way of the Cross. When I returned to my bench, something had already imprinted on me that wasn’t there before. I had to do something for Him who had given His life for me.”

3. He had a life of service to Christ

After professing her first vows in 2006, Sister Clare served in Spain and the United States, before moving to Ecuador. She was completely dedicated to serving Christ, and expressed in his writings: “My heart is yours, my mind is yours, my thoughts are yours. Ask me anything. Nothing matters now, since nothing I have is mine!”

4. She was known for her cheerfulness

Sister Clare was known for her contagious joy. Her biographer, Sister Kristen Gardner, explained: “Through the original images of her, I think people can really get to know her as she was: full of joy.
