Pope Francis invited people to pray the Rosary for peace in the world and the unity of the Church every day during the month of October.

At the end of the General Audience on Wednesday, the Holy Father noted that this month, dedicated to the Holy Rosary, “is a precious occasion to enhance this traditional Marian prayer.”

For this reason, he exhorted the faithful to pray the Rosary every day and to abandon themselves “confidently in the hands of Mary.”

“To Her, attentive Mother, we entrust the suffering and desire for peace of the peoples who suffer the madness of war, in particular the martyred Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Myanmar and Sudan,” said the Pontiff.

He also hoped that “Mary would lead you to her Son Jesus,” while asking for the intercession of the “Holy Virgin, Queen of the Holy Rosary.”

Every October the Catholic Church celebrates the month of the Holy Rosary. In 1573, Pope Gregory XIII established the feast of the Virgin of the Rosary on the first Sunday of October, although over time it was celebrated every 7th of the same month.

On October 6, on the eve of the day of fasting and prayer that he called for peace in the Holy Land, Pope Francis led the prayer of the Holy Rosary for the gift of peace from the Roman basilica of Santa María Maggiore.
