Horacio Pagani, the Argentine who created one of the most prestigious and exclusive sports car brands on the planet, has just launched his latest novelty: the Imola Roadster.
The new hypercar is built on the basis of the Imola and is the convertible with the better performance in the history of the Italian brand.
Its edition is limited to solo eight units and like the Imola, it is approved to circulate on the streets.
“At first, we wanted to create an open-top twin of the Imola Coupé, the vehicle introduced in 2020 that paid tribute to the legendary circuit. Then we took another approach: we combined the sophisticated technology of the Huayra Roadster BC with the design and aerodynamic principles of the Huayra track car A,” commented Lorenzo Kerkoc, director of Pagani Grandi Complicazioni.
In addition to the bodywork, the other difference with respect to the Imola is its improved V12 engine, capable of delivering 850 horsepower (against 827 for the coupe) and a maximum torque of 1,100 Nm.
This 6.0-liter biturbo engine, built by Mercedes-AMG, allows you to achieve maximum speed limited to 350 km/h. And it is associated with a seven-speed sequential transmission.
The evolution of the species
Pagani has been developing advanced composite materials for thirty years, and the Imola Roadster is the culmination of research that seeks perfection.
The technology of its paint (it is green) reduces its weight by up to 5 kilos. Its chassis is made of Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62, ultra-light and strong materials with which it manages to weigh 1.280 kilos.
The new sports car can generate 600 kg of downforce at 280 km/h and withstand lateral accelerations of 2.0 G force, up to a maximum of 2.2 G (as for decelerations).
Even the innovative technology of its metallic green paint contributed to making it lighter. It’s about the system “Watercolor Light”which allows the Imola Roadster lose 5 kilosmaintaining the intensity, depth and brightness of the color.
As detailed by Pagani, the Imola Roadster benefits from its four flaps that move independently, adapting to driving needs to compensate for pitching when braking and rolling when cornering.
The chassis was built in carbon and titanium. Its total weight is 1,260 kilos.It is a system that works in synergy with active independent double wishbone suspensions made of aluminum alloy, coil springs and electronically controlled springs.
The Pagani Imola Roaster wears Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires (265/30 R20 front and 355/25 R21 rear), which were created using new processes inspired by those used in Formula One.
Although its value was not reported, it is estimated that each of the eight units would be valued above the five million euros what the coupe versions cost. Of course, no matter what the units cost, they already have an owner.
