March for women and life in Mexico: 5 reasons to attend

In more than 80 Mexican cities, “In favor of women and life” will march this weekend. Lianna Rebolledo, renowned Catholic speaker and pro-life leader, shared with ACI Prensa five important reasons to participate.

In Mexico City, where the largest concentration is expected, the march – which is taking place for the fourth consecutive year – will begin this Sunday, October 6 at 10:30 am (local time) in the Gorostiza Garden, located in the mayor’s office. Lianna Rebolledo’s testimony is especially valued in the pro-life community in Latin America and the world, since she was a victim of rape when she was very young and became pregnant, and rejected abortion.

1. Promote peace

Rebolledo stressed that attending the march is essential to demonstrate that Mexico “wants peace.”

The pro-life leader called on families to attend with their children to promote “the culture of life” and “respect for human dignity, regardless of any stage of life.”

Rebolledo insisted on the importance of “training, educating” the new generations, allowing them to “feel part of historical moments and say: ‘I am part of this’.”

In addition, he highlighted that the march also seeks to teach respect for the elderly, who “today are made to believe that they must be thrown away because they are already in our way.”

3. Fight “false feminism”

Another important reason to attend the march, according to Rebolledo, is so that “many women really become aware of false feminism, this radical and militant feminism that is only destroying us all.”

She explained that this ideology, by promoting “this whole type of sexuality,” has the consequence that, when faced with some difficulty, women are left alone, thinking: “it is my body, it is my right, it is my reproductive system.” However, he stressed that life in the womb “is another life, regardless of your body.”

Rebolledo also pointed out that, “if we gave that place to the man and made him responsible, many men would think about it before disappearing,” leaving the pregnant mother alone.

4. Show women that they are not alone

She also indicated that another reason for marching is to make women realize that “they are not alone” and that they should come forward and ask for help.

During the march, Rebolledo assured, there will be representation of non-profit civil society organizations that support them, which “have been fighting for years and years so that many women know that they have every right to accompaniment, every right to psychological support.” , to medical care, to legal advice, that no woman should be raped.”

5. A call to Claudia Sheinbaum

Rebolledo also highlighted that with this march a special “call” is made to Claudia Sheinbaum, the first woman to assume the presidency of Mexico, on October 1, so that the government “truly offers support and protection to women, to all women, including those in their mothers’ wombs.”
