The Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina (UCA) has a new dean. This is Father Gerardo Söding, who took office on September 26 during a act in the Inmaculada Concepción parish, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Devoto.
The Archbishop of Buenos Aires and Grand Chancellor of the University, Mons. Jorge García Cuerva, took the oath of office to the new dean, who expressed: “I promise to always remain in communion with the Catholic Church, both in what I express in words and in my way of acting.” act”.

“I will fulfill with great diligence and fidelity the obligations to which I am committed to the Church, both universally and particularly, in which I have been called to exercise my service, as established by Law,” he added.
At the end of his profession of faith, he stated: “I firmly accept and retain each and every thing regarding the doctrine of faith and customs, proposed by the Church in a definitive way.”
The UCA authorities accompanied the new dean at the event, which was also attended by members of the episcopate.
The Archbishop of Buenos Aires then celebrated the Eucharist, and in that context he valued: “Gerardo has the most absolute will and humility.”
“Gerardo searches with others. Dogmatists who believe they are owners of the truth are boring. The owner of the truth is only one and his name is Christ. I hope that this style of Gerardo’s is contagious to the entire Faculty, that it is a Faculty that seeks,” he hoped.
Finally, he assured: “We have a beautiful stage ahead, in which we will continue searching together.”
The rector of the UCA, Dr. Miguel Ángel Schiavone, recognized in dialogue with the program Polyhedron, from Canal Orbe 21that “we are living a moment of great joy, it is a moment of renewal, and the new dean, Gerardo Söding, is a very dear person, with great affection for the faculty, and also for all those who have studied in this Faculty of Theology ”.
“For his knowledge, for his knowledge, for his wisdom, but also for his bonhomie: he is a very appreciated person and so are we,” he insisted.
“We hope that the next deanery will have this imprint; the imprint of a person with wisdom, with affection, but also with a deep knowledge of the discipline,” he wished.
