After being taken to the hospital this morning, the Church in San Antonio (United States) asked for prayers for its archbishop, Bishop Gustavo García-Siller.
In one declaration published on the social media of the Archdiocese of San Antonio it was reported that “Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, began to feel ill while presiding over the 9:30 Mass this morning, October 1, at St. Joseph’s Chapel at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Ministry Center.”

For that reason he was “taken to the hospital and is being evaluated. The archbishop is conscious and in good spirits. Alright”.
“We ask for prayers for the health of Archbishop Gustavo,” the statement concludes.
Bishop Gustavo García-Siller is 67 years old. He was auxiliary bishop of Chicago between 2003 and 2010, the year in which he was named archbishop of San Antonio, Texas.
In San Antonio he has stood out for the care and attention of migrants and has been an important figure in supporting the community of Uvalde, where the majority of inhabitants are Hispanic and where a massacre occurred in 2022 that ended the lives of 19 children and 2 teachers.
