Those connections included “an internship opportunity that recommended or credited work at Planned Parenthood or another local abortion provider,” as well as a link to Planned Parenthood as a “health resource,” a “class resource,” or an “opportunity.” volunteering”.
The report counted each factor as a “violation,” assigning grades to schools based on the number of violations assigned to each. Nearly 30%, or 24, received a grade of “F” with four or more violations, while 15 schools received a grade of “D” for three violations, 20 received a “C” for two violations and 24 received a grade of “B” for an infraction.
Schools were given an “A” grade if they had no violations, while institutions received an “A+” grade if they also offered proof of “a relationship with a local life-affirming pregnancy support center.” .
Three Catholic institutions—Boston College, Santa Clara University in California, and St. Elizabeth University in New Jersey— received “F” grades on the report. St. John Fisher University in New York and the University of Detroit Mercy in Michigan, meanwhile, received “D” grades.
Among the violations identified by the report is the University of Detroit Mercy, which includes Planned Parenthood as one of the “research guides” for students studying “gender and women’s studies.”
Santa Clara University, for its part, suggests on their website that your health center will make referrals to Planned Parenthood, while last year the school organized a symposium in which he examined what he described as “anti-abortion and anti-trans laws.”
In total, 17 Catholic institutions were found to have some connection to Planned Parenthood or in some way promoted the abortion provider or other abortion resources.
None of the Catholic schools on the list responded to questions from EWTN News’ CNA regarding the report’s findings.
The Institute for Pro-Life Advancement said U.S. Christian schools’ support for abortion has “increased annually by 10% since 2022” in the wake of the repeal of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court of the United States.
The institute noted that a dozen schools “removed ties to the abortion industry after initial contact with researchers in 2024.”
The study has been conducted since 2021, during which time “54 total connections (to the abortion industry) have been severed,” according to the report.
Encouragingly, in the most recent report, “Christian schools that earned an ‘A+’ rating in supporting their local pregnancy help center increased by 32%.”
