International Eucharistic Congress: Marriage is made up of a man and a woman

“The Christian family is the first place for education in prayer,” said Bishop Graziano Borgonovo, professor at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome and undersecretary of the Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization. during his intervention this September 12 at the International Eucharistic Congress.

The Vatican authority also recalled that the family reflects the image of God and that marriage between “man and woman manifest with their realization, either the love that God gives them, or the love that is in God himself.”

“The Lord having elevated the love between a man and a woman to an effective sign, that is, to a sacrament of his love for the Church, the educational duty receives from the sacrament of marriage the dignity and the call to be a proper and true ministry of the Church.” Church,” said Bishop Borgonovo.

However, he specified that the family institution is in crisis, since “it is intended to equate the existing union between a man and a woman, united for the life of marriage and who generate children through their love to raise and educate, to other non-equivalent forms of coexistence.”

Bishop Borgonovo stated that “the family is fundamental.” And he added: “The family of the Church and the Church of families is truly the immense Eucharistic tent where we are all invited to join this great dream of a brotherhood redeemed and healed by the total love of Christ.”

Hope is the Eucharist: Road to Jubilee 2025

The undersecretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization intervened again today, September 13to reflect on how hope, which springs from the Eucharistic sacrament, unites the International Eucastistic Congress and the Jubilee Year 2025 promoted by Pope Francis.

“It is Christ Jesus, Our Hope, present in the Eucharist, who is the source of brotherhood to heal the world,” he assured. Furthermore, he added that the Catholic Church vigorously promotes the theme of hope “in a world marked by strong tensions.”

“We live in a time of great challenges that have a significant impact on the behavior of entire generations, due to the fact of the conclusion of an era and the beginning of a new phase for the history of humanity,” said Bishop Borgonovo.

Likewise, he indicated that current societies face the latent danger of religious indifference, which will inevitably lead to “de facto atheism.” This, he remarked, tends to distance people “from their fundamental relationship with God, creating an inner desert, because in fact man is increasingly distant from himself.”

In this context, the Vatican authority highlighted the relevance of promoting hope and enhancing the transmission of faith, a fundamental task of the Catholic Church.

Finally, Bishop Borgonovo explained that the Jubilee of 2025 will be “an opportunity for grace and renewal that we must take advantage of for our sanctification.”
