Next, the Pontiff asked if “we hear this pain.” “Do we hear the pain of the millions of victims of environmental catastrophes?”
“Those who suffer the most from the consequences of these disasters are the poor, those who are forced to leave their homes due to floods, heat waves or droughts,” the Holy Father continued.
Likewise, he stated that “facing environmental crises caused by man, such as climate change, pollution or the loss of biodiversity, requires responses not only ecological, but also social, economic and political.”
“We have to commit to the fight against poverty and the protection of nature, changing our personal habits and those of our community,” he stressed.
Finally, he asked to pray “so that each of us listens with our hearts to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the victims of environmental catastrophes and climate change, committing ourselves personally to taking care of the world we inhabit.”
