“Consider taking them on a ‘church tour’ sometime during the week or after Mass. Ask your parish deacon, priest, or sexton to show the children, up close, places in the church they would not otherwise see and explain what happens there. The ambo, the tabernacle and the altar can spark a child’s curiosity,” he adds.
4. Prepare as much as possible
Follett advises parents to leave clothes prepared the night before, organize “diaper bags in advance, and eat breakfast on time,” so as not to arrive at Mass hectic and angry.
“You can practice genuflection, make the sign of the cross, and sing some of the most common and simple Mass songs at home,” he notes.
