In the framework of the preparations for the commemoration of the 500 years of the apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico, Father David Jasso, member of the technical committee of the Novena Intercontinental Guadalupana, shared six simple actions that each person can perform to prepare for this historic event.
The Virgin of Guadalupe manifested herself to San Juan Diego on Cerro del Tepeyac in December 1531, leaving her image miraculously printed on the indigenous man’s tilma, which is preserved in the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
To commemorate the half millennium of what is known as the “Guadalupan Event” in December 2031, the bishops of Mexico have launched the Intercontinental Guadalupana Novena, an effort that began in December 2022 and that seeks to promote the encounter with God through of Santa María de Guadalupe, seeking new paths in the social and ecclesial reconstruction of the communities.
