5 spiritual weapons of an exorcist to fight the devil

Fr. Cristian Meriggi, exorcist priest of the Archdiocese of Florence (Italy), shares the five spiritual weapons he uses and recommends to combat the devil and his influence.

Meriggi, an exorcist for almost 20 years and a priest for 27, shared his recommendations in the website of the International Exorcist Association (AIE), to which it belongs since 2006.

The priest thanks in his text to his mentor, Fr. Mario Boretti, Fr. Francesco Bamonte, vice president of the IEA; and to the famous P. Gabriele Ameth, exorcist of the Diocese of Rome and co -founder of the IEA, who died in 2016 and who in life made tens of thousands of exorcisms.

“I remember the recommendation that Don Gabriele made me before saying goodbye: ‘Remember, Don Cristian, that we do not serve at all!”, Says the Italian priest.

Meriggi also thanks Cardinal Ernesto Simoni, 96, who “exercised the Ministry of Exorcist even before the Atheed Communist Regime of Albania was arrested on Christmas night of 1963. Today she also exercises her precious ministry in Toscana.”

1. Adoration and Communion

Fr. Meriggi, whose guide and teacher in exorcisms was Fr. Boretti, recalls something that this died priest told him: “Without communion you cannot heal.”

Therefore, the 55 -year -old priest stands out, “an intense sacramental life, a love of Eucharistic Christ, is crucial because the Eucharist is the royal path towards healing and liberation. Adoration and communion!”

2. Confession

The exorcist also specifies that it is very important to “live with constancy the sacrament of confession. With it we find the mercy of God that not only ratifies the forgiveness of our sins, but with his grace deeply enters the darkest areas of the soul where our sins have their roots”.

3. Intense life of charity

Another important spiritual weapon in the fight against the demon is “to live, as St. Paul says, as it depends on us, in peace with all. An intense life of charity where we not only think of our own needs, but also those of others, praying and working for their good. He seeks and gives forgiveness.”

“Living everything, every moment of our life, as a gift, aware that every work for the good of those who love God, even the most difficult moments,” encourages the exorcist.

4. Devotion to the Virgin Mary and the Rosary

Fr. Meriggi also highlights that “it is essential then to feed a faithful and loving devotion to the Virgin Mary. Let us do our prayer of the Church: in addition to the Holy Mass and the liturgy of the hours, also the Holy Rosary. And then the devotion to the saints and the blessed souls of purgatory.”

5. Use of sacramentals

“In addition to the sacramental life, the use of the sacramental is of great benefit. They are like medicines that, together with the sacraments, help us bring God’s grace to all areas of our life,” says the Italian priest.

According to him Catechism of the Catholic Churchthe sacramental “are sacred signs with which, imitating in some way the sacraments, effects are expressed, especially spiritual, obtained by the intercession of the Church.”

The sacramental can be crucifixes, blessed water, medals and blessed salt, among others.

Father Meriggi finally emphasizes that “the whole life of the Church is medicinal, it is a path of liberation, healing and comfort to resurrect in Christ, to live our days in love and peace, to move away or expel the enemy and its influence from our life.”
