Do you like calm and transparent seas for snorkeling or do you prefer the waves that surfers love? Do you choose the paradores with a lot of infrastructure, good food and music or do you want a solitary place where you only hear the sounds of nature?
Everything is possible in Brazil, a country with a coastline of more than 7 thousand kilometers on the Atlantic Ocean.
Crossed by different landscapes, but also by local culture and gastronomy, Brazilian beaches are a tourist attraction all year round, for all ages, tastes and budgets.
In the summer of 2025, seats on flights between Brazil and Argentina will reach an unprecedented record, con 276 weekly flights and 23 fixed routes between both countries.
With some 820,000 available seats planned (the highest number of seats since 2008), the president of the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), Marcelo Freixo, highlighted that “this record only reinforces the message: Brazil is prepared to receive Argentine tourists to that they travel to discover the diversity of our destinations, full of sun, beach, culture, nature and gastronomy”.
Meanwhile, tourism agencies have stated that interest in visiting the neighboring country is growing, driven by the installment financing, direct flight options and favorable exchange rates. The most popular destination from Ezeiza: Rio de Janeiro.
At this juncture and a few weeks into the high season, Embratur is preparing a proposal of 4 very different beaches to take into account.
With cliffs: Guardhouse (Torres, Rio Grande do Sul)
With fine sand and guaranteed waves, this area is surrounded by volcanic rocks called torres, which give the town its name.
Guardhouse is located between Torre do Meio and Torre Sul, with beautiful views of the coast.
Parque da Guarita is the perfect complement to the walk, with trails and viewpoints to admire its peculiar topography and the access is free for those without a car.
In Torres there are a variety of inns, hotels and restaurants. The municipality has less than 40,000 inhabitants, which triple in high season – and usually attracts a diverse audience, where there is no shortage of surfers.
Looking at the map of Brazil, the coast of Rio Grande do Sul is practically a straight line with about 620 km of uninterrupted coastline. In Torres, the mountainous relief emerges as a preview of the Serra Geral, a geological formation of magmatic rocks that begins in the south of the country.
This is a region where tourists can take a dip in the sea and venture into the hills of Aparados da Serra and Serra Geral, about 70 km away.
Prices: Parking at Parque da Guarita costs US$5 per day in high season. The paragliding flight from Morro do Farol, starting at US$60 for a 10 to 15 minute experience.
To get there, you have to fly to Porto Alegre’s Salgado Filho airport. Torres is 185 km away.
Warm “Caribbean-type” sea: Pajuçara (Maceió, Alagoas)
Several places in the Northeast define themselves as the “Brazilian Caribbean” for their combination of crystalline, warm waters and white sand. But in these latitudes there is a great advantage: there are no hurricanes.
Many visitors base themselves on Maceio, the capital of the state of Alagoas, which offers a more classic hotel infrastructure and is located near natural pools. They are characteristic of the area thanks to the reefs, which is why it is known as the “Coral Coast”.
Las Pajuçara pools are just 2 km from the coast of Maceió. The transfer can be hired in a group or individually, it lasts 20 minutes and is worth it for the beauty and the water. The boats usually offer snorkeling services and, in high season, it is advisable to leave early due to tide times and the number of tourists.
Another walk to do at low tide from Maceió is the Ponta Verde Beach Lighthouse. Opened in 1922, it is 11 meters high and is about 400 meters from the beach.
The boats to go to Pajuçara from Maceió cost, on average, from US$ 7 per person. Private tours (for fewer passengers) cost around US$20.
From Argentina there are flights all year round to Maceió, and starting in January there will be direct flights from Gol.
Tropical forest and waterfalls: Paraty (Rio de Janeiro)
Located 240 km from Rio de Janeiro and 270 km from São Paulo, access to Paraty is by land, usually along the Rio-Santos route.
Its historic center is the best-known image of Paraty, located on the “Green Coast”, with its environment of hills covered with vegetation.
The city’s port was key during the Gold Cycle in Brazil, since the production of gold and precious stones that were extracted in Minas Gerais and taken to Rio de Janeiro and Portugal flowed through there.
That’s why, Paraty was part of the Camino Real (in Portuguese, Estrada Real), which covered 1,630 km through the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
A good option is to take a walk to the nearby beaches, where it is not uncommon to spot dolphins and sea turtles. The excursions last about 6 hours and cover beaches or sandbanks of captivating beauty, with the emerald green and somewhat fresh sea.
The most beautiful stops are Jurumirim, Ilha Comprida, Ilha dos Cocos and Ilha do Algodão.
Paraty is in an oceanic region surrounded by protected forest areas, such as the Cairu Reserve, Paraty-Mirim and the Serra da Bocaina National Park. Waterfall tours include Pedra Branca, Sete Quedas, Jamaica and the natural slide.
There are large boats (escunas) that cost from US$ 10 per person and speed boats – for up to 8 passengers – that make personalized tours, starting at US$ 180. Trips to the waterfall circuit start at US$ 20 per person. .
From Ezeiza and Aeroparque, Córdoba and Rosario there are direct flights to Rio de Janeiro, the closest city to Paraty.
Beach and trekking: Lagoinha do Leste, Florianópolis (Santa Catarina)
Lagoinha do Leste is considered as one of the most beautiful beaches in Florianópolisbut access is not easy.
It can only be reached through trails that start from the shore of Matadeiro beach (90-minute walk) or Pântano do Sul. They have a certain level of difficulty, but the beauty of the panoramic views makes up for the effort.
There is also the option of making the climb on foot and returning to Pântano do Sul by boat, which leaves every hour for US$ 12 per passenger.
Lagoinha do Leste has moderate waves, very clear water, fine sand and lots of nature to enjoy. It is a refuge for those who want to enjoy silence and tranquility, with few buildings and shops.
It is recommended to wear good footwear, repellent, sunscreen, food and drinks, and not carry more weight than necessary. In turn, visitors have to carry a bag to throw away the garbage generated during the day.
Hercílio Luz International Airport in Florianópolis is 13 km from Matadeiro Beach. From Argentina there are flights from Aerolíneas Argentinas, Flybondi and Gol.
