38 thousand young people pilgrimage to the monument to Christ King in Mexico

Around 38 thousand young people from different parts of Mexico marched on January 25 to the monument to Christ the King, located on the hill of the Cubilete, in the municipality of Silao, Guanajuato, with the aim of sending a message to the nation: “This land It belongs to God. ”

Andrea Perea, president of Testimony and Hope – organizing the progress of the march – explained in news conference That this year he stood out for the request to the red dress attendees, as a symbol of “the strength of martyrdom and unconditional surrender to Christ.”

The event commemorated the 50 years of the murder of Juan Bosco and César Fernando, two young people who lost their lives in 1975 during the second pilgrimage to the monument to Christ Rey, a crime that was never clarified by the authorities.

“Martyrdom is not a human effort, but an answer to the divine call, a gift of the grace of God that drives to live and, if necessary, to give life for love to Christ, to the Church and others,” Perea pointed out.

He also indicated that the red color that illuminated the cubilete not only symbolized the blood shed by the martyrs, but also “that of those who today suffer from insecurity, violence and inequality.”

In this context, Perea stressed that, in a country where news of violence, injustice and inequality are frequent, “the Christian cannot remain indifferent.”

Union between young and elders

To conclude the march, it was celebrated A Mass chaired by Mons. Jaime Calderón, Archbishop of León. During his homily, he called on the union between youth and the elderly, inviting both groups to work together for the good and future of the Catholic Church.

A minor dies during the pilgrimage
