200 politicians from 40 countries attend a summit for life and family in Spain

More than 200 political and civic leaders from Europe, America and Africa will meet in the Senate of Spain on December 1 and 2 to defend freedom, family and the culture of life on the occasion of the VI Transatlantic Summit organized by the Political Network for Values (PNfV) (Political Network for Values).

Delegations from more than 40 countries will attend this event in Madrid, which proves “that the agenda of values ​​that we promote is positive, humanizing and transversal, capable of bringing together politicians from diverse cultures and sensitivities, because it is based on the recognition of the infinite dignity of every human being,” says Lola Velarde, executive director of the PNfV through a statement.

Among the countries that will have delegations present are Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kenya, Malawi, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay , Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sierra Leone, Switzerland, Uganda, Ukraine and Venezuela.

Velarde also details that “the objective of the summit in Madrid is to send a clear message in favor of freedom and the culture of life,” because “true democracies have as inalienable foundations freedom and respect for human dignity, from which a culture of life is born. Freedom and culture of life are at the foundations of our civilization,” he emphasizes.

“The opposition we recently faced for its celebration only confirms that the summit is more necessary than ever,” says Velarde.

Summit cancellation attempt

This cancellation claim has been suffered by the organizers of this international meeting, by the main party of the Government of Spain, the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), which wanted to cancel the transfer of space in the Senate.

At the beginning of October, after information about the VI Transatlantic Summit published in The CountryPSOE senators demanded the cancellation of the event, when months before their colleagues had approved its celebration.

The request for a room was made in accordance with current regulations and was unanimously approved by the Senate Board, the body in charge of managing the activity of the Upper House.

“The attempt to prohibit its celebration is a clear example of cancellation of those who have a divergent position and express it in a peaceful and respectful manner, which is openly contrary to the foundations of the rule of law. “It is an act of crude intolerance that should not take place in democratic societies,” the PNfV exposed the risk of controversy to PNfV. in a statement.

The summit program, which includes the celebration of a Eucharist in the Royal Monastery of La Encarnación, will be developed around eight panels that will address issues such as the challenge of freedom in contemporary democracies, the possibility of a change of course towards the culture of life, the impact of this culture on the demographic challenge or the importance of putting mothers, children and families at the center of public policies.

Likewise, the defense of freedom of expression as a pillar of democracies, the human right to educational freedom and the care of human life in its most vulnerable moments will be discussed.

The summit will also call for building a global coalition on universal human rights.

Among those attending are the honorary president of the PNfV and former Minister of the Interior of Spain, Jaime Mayor Oreja; the president of the network, the Chilean José Antonio Kast; the Secretary of Worship and Civilization of Argentina, Nahuel Soto; Colombian senator Paola Holguín; the Spanish MEP Margarita de la Pisa; the Dominican parliamentarian Rogelio Genao; and the president of the National Front for the Family of Mexico, Rodrigo Iván Cortés, who in turn is general secretary of the PNfV.

The PNfV constitutes a network of politicians and civic leaders committed to the promotion of life, family and freedoms. The first of its Transatlantic Summits was held in 2014 at the United Nations headquarters in New York (USA).
