Data has been collected over a specific period and rankings have been determined by comparing the number of posts and interaction levels for each location, also considering the overall relevance of the location within various religious and cultural contexts.

The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, ranks first, with the largest number of hashtags on Instagram, 4.7 million specifically.
This Gothic structure receives 15 million visitors each year, making it the second most visited place among the other places in the study.
2.After the Parisian cathedral is the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, with a large Internet presence that has reached up to 3.7 million posts on Instagram. This place attracts 7.5 million visitors annually.

Third place goes to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, which continues to be one of the most visited places in the world. The ongoing construction of the Sagrada Familia has not slowed its momentum on Instagram. Gaudí’s masterpiece has generated more than 3.3 million posts and attracts 3.2 million people each year.

Angkor Wat (Siem Reap, Cambodia) ranks fourth and has reached more than 1.9 million publications on this social network. It is the largest religious monument in the world and attracts 2.6 million visitors annually.

Located atop Montmartre in France, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart ranks fifth, with more than 1.2 million posts on Instagram. It attracts 11 million visitors each year, indicating that it is a favorite place among tourists and social media users alike.

In sixth place is the Al-Aqsa Mosque (Jerusalem, Israel). It is one of the most sacred places for Islam. This mosque has gained relevance on Instagram with more than 1.1 million posts.

The Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, ranks seventh, with more than 1.1 million hashtags on Instagram. The temple also attracts 4.37 million visitors annually.

The Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar, India, ranks eighth, with 935,900 Instagram posts. Despite its relatively smaller social media presence, it receives 36 million visitors each year, the highest number among all the places studied.

St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City ranks ninth. With 10 million visitors each year, the Vatican Basilica has more than 807,600 posts on Instagram.

The last place goes to the Subotica Synagogue, in Serbia, with 756 thousand hashtags on Instagram. The synagogue attracts more than 1.7 million tourists each year.
